Hidden Books (숨어있는 책)
‘Hidden books’ is one of the most famous
secondhand bookstore in ShinChon. It was established in 1999. This bookstore specializes
in liberal arts and social science, but almost all kinds of books are there.
When you enter the store, warming classical
music and kind bookstore owners will welcome you. Each book is well organized in
categories so we can easily find what we are looking for. There are lots of first
editions, and also you can find many book series in this bookstore.

Gongssi-bookstore (공씨책방)
‘Gongssi-bookstore’ is smaller than other stores,
but there are still lots of used books including LPs, CDs or music tapes. They
moved from Hongdae to Shinchon. Books for children and various magazines are
stacked in front of the entrance.
This bookstore was made by Mr.Gong who loved
books so much. Although he couldn’t go to college because of economic problems,
he decided to establish his own bookstore and enjoy books for his entire life.
Before he died in 1990, many Korean writers visited here and had discussion
with him.
Because this bookstore is easy to access, many
college students visit there. When you listen to the calm music reading old books
in the store, you will be unconscious of the passage of time.

Geulbeot-bookstore (글벗서점)
If you are interested in photo books or
Japanese books or foreign magazines, 'Geulbeot-bookstore' is the best choice. Books about design and
from foreign countries are gathered in this bookstore. The size of the store is
twice as big as the Gongssi-bookstore and more than 300,000 books are there.
Unlike the others, there is no music in this
bookstore. However, because of the large size of the store, you may find the
proper books you need to find. Also, it is very clean and well organized, so
that you may relax and sit on the floor to read some books.
